World FM is a low power FM (LPFM) radio station originally based in Tawa, Wellington, New Zealand.
As from 2021 our main studio and internet services have moved to Mārahau, near the entrance to the Abel Tasman National Park in the Tasman region, however we still operate FM services to Tawa and also in Stoke, Nelson.
Our aim is to play a mix of some of the best world music, Kiwi classics, and a selection of radio programming from around the world.
We are currently broadcasting on 88.2 MHz, in Tawa using an NRG Kits NZ PPL Pro transmitter. Our broadcasts in Mārahau also go out on 88.2 MHz, using an original NRG PPL Pro transmitter from the UK. Our Stoke site is on 107.6 MHz and uses a BW Broadcast transmitter.
All antennas are tuneable 1/4-wave groundplanes from the FM DX Antenna Company
Our programming is managed using the StationPlaylist Pro suite and processed using Thimeo Stereo Tool stereo & RDS encoding software.
World FM has been on air since March 2005, using a variety of frequencies in the 88 MHz & 107 MHz LPFM bands.
